March 2009
it seems like everything i do today is horribly offensive to one of the relatively few people i actually care about. sigh.
February 2009
(not getting into that debate, i just noticed it sounded oddly familiar.)
Clone Wars animated series sounds like referendum-era Canadian news: they keep saying ‘evil separatists’, again and again.
bsg and a 50. saturday afternoons / evenings rule.
brokengentleman.com- question five: list 5 books.: List the five books most influential to y.. http://tinyurl.com/bmz7qe
short trip to the watch-maker, and now i have two functioning, perfectly fitted watches. will i begin wearing them more often? who knows.
Finished American Psycho, read half of Nat Turner, and had an idea. Good morning’s work.
Killing time at the Bay. In ten minutes, nothing but ‘power ties’. Get with the times, people.
Spending $30 on getting existing watches to work / fit. Convinced that fear of maintenance drives consumption as much as desire for new.
Waiting for Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li to start. My girlfriend (@ganglygolightly) puts up with a lot.
according to tweets, @jonathancoulton is apparently hanging out with @neilhimself. nerdgasm, heroes, etc.
bought ‘Nat Turner’ GN on my lunch break. Kyle Baker is intensely talented.
RT @SyntonicThief: “Recession traced to millions giving their money to Obama during campaign”
Heading to an early lunch with @canice, then a client meeting. Busy day!
planning everything that needs to come together for march. short version: a lot, and it’s going to be amazing.
Debating a third beer.
At home, impressed with my classy new Tissot. And now, souvlaki.
RT @themediaisdying: Wizard Magazine just fired several people including all the writers - just two editors spared.
apparently there is a new watch waiting for me at home. this excites me to no end.
Tea break! It is beautiful out today.
i’ll start worrying about the animals as soon as we sort out all the problems facing the people.
my desk is clean! i feel more productive already!
i really dislike gawker’s habit of linking to more internal coverage, even when the text is a website name. links should be outbound, ppl.
this is turning into a crazy morning. the good kind of crazy, though.
been going crazy on the follows since #pcto09. we’ll see how long until this backfires.
Tie, white shirt, rolled sleeves, denim, doc martens, and a long coat. I JUST realized how much my style references John Constantine. Sigh.
#WLU.
On Dirty Looks.
I’m always amazed what behaviour results in my being scowled at. Today, it was sitting at the only empty table in a coffee shop. A table that was half-surrounded by the backs of a medium sized group of tourists (I can’t place the point of origin).
Of course, they were the ones scowling.
For all I hear about cities making people harsh and antisocial, that’s not what I observe....
Walking to the TTC. Enjoying the temporarily mild weather.
i LOVE unexpected calls from friends. it’s like the modern equivalent of getting a letter, in a world of asynchronous communications.
the only program that attracts my attention is the MA i applied for two years ago. saw this coming.
in response to my entire social circle hassling me, i’m looking to see if i find any grad school programs inspiring. not holding my breath.
want to get more university students on twitter? tell them it’s the ultimate solution for feeling like you’ve read the entire internet.
RT @jonathancoulton: Just want to say, my last tweet would have included a link if my effing iPhone included effing copy and paste.
(being a dick to someone on the internet, for no reason, still not cool in my books. don’t want that to get lost in the ramblings.)
creating a public persona, even an ‘authentic’ one, should distance you from criticism. people are trashing a brand, not a person, no?
maybe it’s just me, but investing and building a business around your personal brand should make it HARDER to take things personally, no?
that, and it makes it clear that ripping off google is the new ripping off apple.
looking at my ‘top sites’ in safari 4 makes it clear how little of my browsing happens on my home computer.
laziness and slight illness has led to my ordering a pizza for this evening. delivered pizza, for one: the surrender of dinner options.
this year, i am giving up guilt for lent. (no disrespect intended to lent-enthusiasts)
‘did you just ask my permission?’ ‘yes, we can.’ - oh house, you make everything better.
stopped reading the boingboing offworld RSS, because i already get two recaps a day from other bb feeds. still like the content, tho.
i can receive corporate email on my laptop, but for some reason it only sends from my iphone. my thumb-typing skills are becoming legend.
i’m actually wary of the point when i will wake up, and not be able to catch up on my twitter feed from when i was asleep.
Sick plus busy equals work from home. Mucus and phlegm are no match for my To Do list.
I’m very good with people (one at a time). In a large, anonymous crowd, I turn from social to analytical.
Interesting reading about FBconnect adoption- we’re heading to an accountable, identifiable web. Is this positive?
I really missed reading fiction. Better mental state than watching video on my iPhone. It may be the feeling of focus that reading requires.
Communication has become post-scarcity, decisions made due to schedule and ranking, not ‘ability’. This has made it more valuable, not less.
