via Design Observer. Is it just me, or is this what Adbusters was trying to do with it’s ‘brandless’ Blackspot brand? And if so, is this effort by Amex not the perfect encapsulation that no-brand is just another kind of brand?
draft of OYP presentation re: Redesign.
oyp thoughts.
i’m realising i need to start assembling my clothes for this year’s OYP session. two major things of note there - 1) my style has changed a lot in the last 2 years, and i don’t really own blazers tailored the way i want, or even in colours i want, and 2) as an ARC, i don’t have to wear a suit all the time, as long as i’m still arguably formal. this should be...

it’s okay, ellen page. your fan club still loves you.
just watched b. walters interview ellen page...
and i have to ask… is barbara walters senile? the entire thing just felt like watching a kid have a conversation with someone else’s oblivious grandma, just happy to have the company. (note: retirement is not necessarily a bad idea.)
Overhearing Conversations of Virgin
scubed: “…A guy, given the chance, will have sex with any woman…” I think this might be accurate if ‘given the chance’ is replaced with ‘given sufficient quantities of alcohol and/or drugs’, but i agree with your overall point. people who think there isn’t a male acceptable range are the same kinds who think all sexual experiences are more or less equal for men. ...

jeff came over for a whirlwind 7 hour visit, and, true to form, we drank beer, watched 30 rock, talked about the future, and i went to sleep drunk. we did, however, manage to wake up on time, shower, and while i got everything together he managed to thoroughly charm my mother (seriously, 2 times as she drove me to the bus stop ‘jeff seems like a really nice young man’ it’s like...

letter sent to the globe and mail, re: cartoon...
As a person of colour, and someone who is against the formation of Black Focused schools, I found the cartoon published on Monday, Feb 18th troubling. I had argued that the real issue was a matter of a curriculum that was focused on a White, European perspective, and the solution would be found in altering the public school curriculum so that there was not a bias to any one ethnic group. Looking...
globeandmail.com: Cartoon →
gee, i wonder where there is a notable group out there who feels there is a white bias in education and media? (for the record, i don’t support black focused schools, because i have yet to hear a convincing argument as to what problem it corrects other than the white - european bias that is more or less everywhere.)

scubed: I was just thinking to myself how most of the music that I have suggested my buddy Jon to listen to usually will take about a month or so and then all of a sudden Jon will be loving that band. Death From Above, Chromeo, etc. I am not saying this has to do with anything at all or who likes who first.. that is bs. But what is funny is. It works the other way. Jon suggest music to me and I...

deepr: scubed: Why is it that the 3D version of Star Wars Clone Wars looks better than the Live Action movies? The live action movies sucked, yes. But to be honest, we were talking about this earlier this week at school, and the expressions on the face look so, so dead. It’s still shitty, but I don’t understand why they didn’t just stick with the normal one from a couple years back. The new...
